In selecting a builder for our home, we looked at many homes under construction by nearly a dozen different builders. The selection was narrowed by looking at the quality of construction, including substructure, quality of subcontractors and finish work. The remaining six contractors were each interviewed to determine the number of homes constructed, their philosophy of construction, references, how they handled the financial aspect of the construction and whether they were bothered by us being on site often during the construction. We could not have been more pleased with our choice of Bill Grotheer Construction Company. Every concern was addressed immediately and the project was completed on time and on budget. Even after the punch list was completed, BGC took care of any issue (all minor) for well over a year after. Our relationship with Bill, Brian and Shirley was outstanding. They are honest and stand behind their product.

Our home was well built and, after eleven plus years, the construction has held up well. We would not hesitate asking BGC to build another home or remodel our current home if, or when, needed. We can, without reservation, recommend Bill Grotheer Construction Company.

My relationship with Bill and Brian was excellent. If there was a really significant problem the boss is always the one to work with....but I don't recall any significant problems. Plus you always handled the small p-i-t-a problems with the trades in terms of getting them fixed. In my opinion the house has held-up very well. The wood floors are still tight, the exterior stucco still looks new, and there have been no problems with the mechanicals, i.e., the furnaces/AC, electricity, plumbing, etc. All in all you provided a very valuable service to Bill by handling the customers requests, changes, etc. freeing up his time to organize the Trades at the various construction sites, and to work with new customers.

We purchased our lot in 1995 while our retirement date was still six months away. Although we were anxious to start building, we were also concerned about not being on site while significant construction was underway. With that decision made, we proceeded with the search for both architect and builder. We had established a financial home in Savannah/The Landings with Nations Bank which was later acquired by Bank of America. They were very helpful in providing short lists for our final decisions. After the architect we selected had completed some initial drawings we selected Bill Grotheer Construction. Our home is 13 years and is still in outstanding condition; whereas many of our neighbors homes of the same vintage have experienced significant repair problems relating to construction deficiences. If I were to have any such needs I would call upon Bill Grotheer/Brian Mims. I have called them many times in the past 13 years for minor help/advice and they always exceeded my expectataions-either doing the work themselves, or recommending a local firm to get the work done when the work was outside of their sub-contracter list.

We enjoyed working with both of you as we built our house. Bill showered us with attention during the planning phase and was available to us at any time. Brian kept us completely informed and engaged through the entire project. During the process I felt that you where constantly looking for the best way to proceed towards the building of a great house. Today we have one of the finest houses at the Ford Plantation. We have now lived here for a few years and the quality of your construction is demonstrated every day. It is a very well built house. I would recommend Grotheer Construction to anyone and would only use you if my plans call for a new home or an addition in the future.

In 2001 we had our home designed by Cowart Architects and built by Grotheer Construction while we were living outside of the area. It was a very pleasant transaction, and of the 6 houses we have built, this was by far the most gratifying experience.

Bill, Brian and their team were excellent communicators, were on the site on a daily basis, and involved us in any major changes. Additionally they recommended many refinements, including cost savings ideas. We had the distinct impression they were watching our money as closely as they would their own.

Since they finished the house, they helped prepare our former home for sale, did two major upgrades to our existing home, and have been available for any questions or concerns we have had. They have offered advice and insured that their sub contractors have been attentive to our follow up requests, whether in warranty or not.
